I am excited to announce that for the first time (since 2008 when I used to do the National Stationery Show) Foxy & Winston will be exhibiting at the Javits Center at the NYNOW Summer 2014 Show from August 16 - 20. I will be there with Etsy Wholesale along with 23 other vendors who are introducing their lines to the wholesale market with Etsy in the Handmade Pavilion Booth number 9000. Thanks to Etsy Wholesale for choosing me to be one of the lucky 24!!
I am pleased to be showing a few new products and designs along with some of my best selling originals in fresh new colors! My production is just about to kick off (the largest I have ever done) and is a few months away from completion, but a full range of samples will be shown at the event and orders will be taken there and shipped out on arrival later this Fall. Exciting times ahead, sneak peek below at a few of the new designs and products!
Over the past 6 months we have had some help from the wonderful people at the New York City branch of Small Business Services - known as SBS Neighborhood. In an effort to smarten up Sandy stricken main streets after the hurricane, at least 8 storefronts (and counting..) in Red Hook alone, have received grant money from this organization. We were lucky enough to be given this retractable awning (in my favorite color), Gooseneck lamps (to light the shop up at night) and a new window pane that needed to be replaced forever!. Our new look is really making a difference to the business, people that drive by are stopping in - thinking we are new in town and are shocked when we tell them that this month we turn 5 ..! (more on that later). SO, our sincere gratitude goes to the folks over at small business services for helping to shine a light (literally) on our sweet little store!
The Red Hook Flicks is something we all look forward to in the neighborhood each year and I usually get the fun job of designing the posters! Here is this years with the line up of movies to watch over the coming weeks!
As one of the sponsor's of this event I got to have my photo taken by Red Hook's very own Craig LaCourt Here is the Craig's favorite from from our fun session. I don't think I ever looked so menacing!
This week we are having our annual seconds sale. Hand screen-printing on (white!) organic canvas can be a messy business and yields plenty of mistakes! an ink splodge here, a dirty mark there - this is what constitutes a 'second' in our book. We have PLENTY of the following and all sales are FINAL :
Adult Aprons $25
Kids Aprons $15
Cushion Covers $12
The sale started today and will go on until everything is gone, so come on down to Red Hook if you get the chance.
I am SUPER excited to be here this Saturday 1 - 6 pm with my Foxy-Wares at West Elm - 1870 Broadway, New York 1-6pm please come and see me!! Here is a link to all the other vendors who will also be at the West Elm POP-UP

I get to choose one of the lucky winners and am going to be choosing mine over on Facebook this week, so don't forget to check it out!
Thanks to My Olive Box for letting me be a part of the fun,
Been a bit too busy of late to post any news, so will simply catch up with some photo galleries of the new things we have been making around here - starting with some festive Robin and Popinjay Wreath flour sack towels that actually make pretty sweet occasional tablecloths for the season! They are made of 100% cotton in the USA and printed here in Brooklyn. They are just $15 each as our Holiday Special this year. So snap them up right HERE, I only made a hundred!
This year Hanukkah begins on Thanksgiving so this years cards are already on sale!
If anyone is interested in bulk pricing for 50 cards or more Please feel free to contact me HERE for pricing. These cards are letterpress printed on snow white 100% cotton tree-free rag stock with royal blue ink. I only printed 200 so get 'em while you can!
I am excited to announce a new section in the online Shop, where customers can purchase some of the other lovely things I buy for the SHOP from friends and Artisans from around the world. Here is a link to the new SHOP and here is a selection of the products I have chosen to feature. Just click through the Gallery below!
One of our lovely clients in Los Angeles, California, purchased 10 yards of our sweet Bunny Cotton Canvas Yardage, with plans to have an armchair upholstered earlier in the year. I was delighted to see the finished results when she kindly shared this photo with me last week. There is honestly nothing more satisfying than seeing the bunny I once drew and made into a pattern, come to life in some other bunny lover's lounge on the other side of the country. I'm thrilled Skinny!
We've been busy Beavers this week creating sets of note cards with 6 fun new designs!
These folded notecards are printed on an Indigo Digital Press In Manhattan on 100Lb Neenah Environment Cover stock which is 100% PCW recycled. We like that! Each Kraft box contains 6 cards (blank inside) and comes with a fun colored envelope from Waste Not Paper. They are in the Shop now, online here and here on Etsy. These new designs will be making their way onto various textiles over the coming months so if you like the idea of an Organic Muslin Scarf with Squash Blossoms, Beets or Bugs (to name a few) then do check back in for updates. Click through the gallery below to see the 6 new designs:
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend, we are off camping to Cold Spring with Hope the Beagle and our camping pals Scott and Brandon and cannot wait for a swim in the Lake!
We have had a few fun deliveries this week at Foxy & Winston. A newcomer to the Shop is Seattle based candle and soap maker Cordelia Smith of Sweet Petula. These hand-made Soy candles and Shea soaps have the most beautiful scents, not to mention the packaging and make the perfect host gift My fave so far is the Fig Leaf and the Earl Grey Tea (of course). The horse head bookends are not exactly new, in fact I only have one pair left! I just love the way they look...so here they are.
Need a fancy fireplace match to light those candles with? well we have a bunch of new and amazing ones to choose from this week (See images below). We will have more new goodies coming in over the next few months ready for the holidays and I will be shopping for many of them at the New York Gift show just over a week from now. It's one of my favorite things about being a shopkeeper. I LOVE shopping!
Weddings! Save the dates! Birth Announcements! We at Foxy & WInston have been working with our wonderful clients lately to create letterpress stationery that marks special moments in their lives and we're excited to show you what we've come up with:
This past week we got a new, huge delivery of Sweater Toys by one of our favorite local makers Caitlin Wicker. Each critter is lovingly handmade from re-purposed, soft as can be sweaters and has its own sweet name tag. The Whale, Hammerhead (did you know it's Shark week?!) and Squid Rattles are her latest adorable product - made of the softest organic cotton and completely machine washable!
Things here at Foxy & Winston are winding down for the Summer and we are now on hiatus from the Brooklyn Flea until September 7th - taking some time..
All sorts has been been happening here at Foxy HQ. Firstly, after a year as Studio Director, our pal Jessica has moved onto pastures new and I wish her all the luck in the world with her new post in the Stationery Dept. at Tiffany & Co. Hope and I will miss her madly!
Meanwhile, apart from working on new textile and stationery designs, I have been painting and fixing up the shop after almost four years in business here in Red Hook. Simon and I have also taken time out to go away with pals. Highlights so far have been this Motel in Phoenicia, NY and camping at Wildwood State Park on the Long Island Sound, which we do EVERY year!
This week saw the arrival of a new line at Foxy & Winston: Decomposition Books by Michael Roger. These guys are local to Red Hook and have been in business making their sweet notebooks and journals (now 100% PC Recycled) since 1949! They are a great deal at just $6-9 and come in a variety of styles.
In other news we are having a Foxy Textile SECONDS CLEARANCE SALE at the shop over the next few weeks with prices ranging from $8 to $25. Napkins, Towels, Totes, Aprons and Cushions. All must go!!
Recently, I had the pleasure of spending an afternoon in Dumbo with a group of extremely crafty girls, Janet and Katie from For the Makers , jewelry designer Deborah Rice and Jen and Kena; the founders of BRIKA. We learned how to make silk floral accessories, using supplies from one of New York's oldest and largest institution's called M&S Schmalberg. This sweet film was created by documentary filmmaker Alex Budman. Thanks ladies for a fun afternoon!
